Dear Sally Kern: Get the Hell Out of Office

sallykern-1r

The indignant Sally Kern, a Republican state representative in Oklahoma, is known for her noted bigotry, out of touch logic, anti-gay obsession, and her public shunning of her own gay son Jesse.

So why mention her name again? Because she just opened a one-woman show called "I'm Batshit Crazytown!"

Actually, I mistook her comments at a press conference hosted by Americans For Truth About Homosexuality (yes, that's the org's real name) to be an off-Broadway comedy. It was not.

Kern regularly calls gays a blight on American society, insists they have no place among morally just heterosexuals, and often invokes God when opining on how this country should be run. Throw in some Barack Obama and you're gonna want to buy tickets to see the show.

The homosexual agenda is only one symptom of the real problem in America. The problem is that we have forsaken the Judeo-Christian values upon which this nation was founded. Noah Webster declared: “The principles of genuine liberty and of wise laws and administrations are to be drawn from the Bible.”There are two conflicting worldviews vying for power. The secular humanist worldview versus the Judeo-Christian or Biblical worldview. Humanism sees the world as impersonal matter shaped by chance with man just another animal. There is no basis for values or laws. The Biblical worldview recognizes a Creator who established moral laws and absolute truth as revealed in the Bible. Man, made in God’s image, is priceless. Our founding fathers established this nation upon the Biblical worldview as evidenced by John Adam’s statement, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people.” Or James Madison’s statement: “We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government … but upon the capacity of mankind for self-government, upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the 10 Commandments of God.”For the first time in America’s history, we have a president who has no understanding of the Biblical worldview and who has even less understanding of the truths of the Bible. This is evident when he says that support for homosexual “marriage” [unions] can be found in the Sermon on the Mount or that certain passages in Romans are just obscure passages. Whereas George Washington expelled from his military those who practiced sodomy, President Obama honors sodomites by proclaiming an entire month as Gay Pride Month, but he won’t acknowledge one day for our National Day of Prayer. We have a president who doesn’t know the difference between God-given rights and sinful, perverted behavior. The Biblical worldview teaches that all are created equal and worthy of respect but it also teaches that some behaviors, such as homosexuality, are wrong because they violate God’s moral law.Today many in our churches and even many ministers have forsaken belief in absolute truth and are instead reinterpreting the Bible to justify their behavior. This leads to acceptance of anything and everything. While conservatives attack the symptoms, like homosexuality or abortion, and these behaviors should be exposed and attacked; however, we should love the people involved in these behaviors and tell them God has a better way. While conservatives attack the symptoms, those who don’t believe in or appreciate the uniqueness of America, our president included, are attacking the foundation of absolute truth, seeking to destroy it through teaching evolution and tolerance for deviant behaviors. Our founding fathers understood that if a nation is to provide safety and the pursuit of happiness for its citizens, the Judeo-Christian worldview must be maintained. George Washington said, “Of all the habits and dispositions that lead to political prosperity religion and morality are indispensable supports.”

The King of the Jews is Stalking You

5177_114930522564_753837564_2930433_2650184_n

My friend Will who uses twitter, had a surprise the other day, when receiving the following message posted above. It appears that Jesus has given up on the idea of asking people to follow him, and instead he has chosen to follow people via twitter.

As if it wasn’t bad enough to have to deal with the mixture of government and religion, we now have to deal with the intrusion of religion and technology.

Another one to be added to the spam filter.

Obama Invites Gay Rights Advocates to White House

gayflag1

As advocates for gays and lesbians intensify their criticism of the White House, President Obama has invited some of their leaders to an East Room reception next Monday to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion, the 1969 Greenwich Village demonstrations that gave birth to the modern gay rights movement.

Some said it would take more than a reception to change their view that Mr. Obama has not been aggressive enough in pursuing gay rights. As a candidate, Mr. Obama campaigned to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act, the federal law barring gay marriage, and ‘’don’t ask don’t tell,’’ the military policy that bars gays and lesbians from serving openly. But advocates have accused him of dragging his feet.

“What’s going to change the way the community is feeling is seeing the introduction of a bill to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act, repeal ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,’’ said Jennifer Chrisler, executive director of the Family Equality Council, a Boston-based advocacy group, referring to two policies Mr. Obama pledged to overturn. She said gay rights advocates want to see “a president who is fulfilling the promises he made on the campaign trail.’’

Just last week when Mr. Obama announced a package of domestic partnership benefits for federal workers, several prominent gay and lesbian political leaders attacked the president for failing to extend full health benefits, saying that the initiative was a mere token effort that included benefits that had already existed.

Whether Mr. Obama will address the complaints at Monday’s reception is unclear. One person who received the invitation said the White House was billing the event as a celebration, akin to the festive affairs the administration holds on St. Patrick’s Day or Cinco de Mayo. Another said the invitation included an offer to bring a guest. “They want people to understand that their partners are welcome,’’ said this person, speaking anonymously because the White House has not announced the event.

The White House event will be just one of many commemorations of the Stonewall uprising, named for the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar on Christopher Street that was the site of a police raid that turned violent in the early hours of the morning of June 28, 1969. The raid led to a series of protests that spawned the creation of gay advocacy groups and, more broadly, empowered gay people to begin fighting for recognition and civil rights.

Update: The White House confirmed the event.

Shin Inouye, a White House spokesman, said, “Next Monday’s event is a chance for the White House to recognize the accomplishments of LGBT Americans. Invited guests include families, volunteers and activists, and community leaders. This event was long planned as a way to applaud these individuals during Pride month.”

Humacao, Puerto Rico

Once in a while, I get asked about the island where I was born and raised: Puerto Rico, particularly by people who have never visited it. Here is a trip to memory lane of images of the town (now a city) where I was born and grew up called “Humacao.” Humacao is derived from the local indian chief or “cacique” name: “Jumacao” who were part of the island’s native indian tribe: “Tainos” who lived during the times of Christopher Columbus.

The new iphone 3G S

hero-intro-20090608

The new iphone 3G S arrived today and once again, Apple delivered a hit. Two years ago, I stood in line for three hours, awaiting the release of the first iphone, version 1.0. Two years later, I was able to pre-order and receive a copy of the iphone version 3.0 in my own home on the same day it launched. Very cool!

Post-It Panic: Student Tackles Deadlines With Stop Motion Video

How many of us can identify with the pressures of a deadline and the temptations of procrastination?

On the other hand, when you're working hard many things fall to the wayside whether it be eating, sleeping, dating, etc. What you get in return is a stack of post-its filled with scrawls of things to do, new ideas, old ideas, things to look up, people to call, people not to call, and so on. It can overwhelm even the most committed of crammers.

Bang-yao Liu, a student at the Savannah College of Art and Design, decided to explore this phenomena with a stop motion video called "Deadline" that's as funny as it is inventive. He used computer icons, games, and dreams as inspiration for the story of a thousand sticky-notes.

Mr. President: Too Little, Too Late!

obamanowecant

There were details, then an explanation, and now President Obama has signed the Domestic Partners Benefits and Obligations Act, granting some benefits to gay and lesbian federal employees. It's a step in the right direction, yes, but it's not nearly enough.

With Reps. Tammy Baldwin and Barney Frank, along with Sen. Joe Lieberman and Vice President Joe Biden by his side, Obama took time to address discrimination that continues, such as the Defense of Marriage Act, which he claims he'll work with Congress to repeal. And then he signed his name to what he called an "executive order"; news outlets are calling it a memo.

But trying to smooth over relations with the gay community after big name donors pulled out of the Democratic National Committee LGBT Leadership Council fundraising dinner, this little missive is, as expected, seriously lacking. (But not so lacking that conservative groups found themselves without a new cute term: "marriage light.") It lets federal employees in same-sex relationships to take off work to care for an ill partner, and lets those posted abroad use health services.

But here's what Obama did not include above his signature:

• An executive order (though Obama called it one), which would make the benefits permanent even after he leaves office, and not able to be easily undone by a succeeding president who simply interprets the the law differently, which his memo allows.
• A direct call on legislators to immediately draft legislation to repeal Don't Ask Don't Tell and the Defense of Marriage Act, and then pass legislation that would extend all benefits (such as health insurance) to the partners of same-sex federal employees that Obama says DOMA currently prohibits.
• A demand that legislators move on the Employment Non-Discrimination Act immediately, approving it once Rep. Barney Frank introduces it in the House next week.
• Voice his support for the Uniting American Families Act and reassure gay Americans he will sign the legislation once it hits his desk.
• An apology for letting his Justice Department, among other things, compare gay American families to incestuous relationships. But as we just learned, that is not about to happen.

Listening to Obama talk about gay people here, he sounds like our ally — the man we knew during the presidential campaign. Hearing him speak so fondly of the gay community, and the rights we deserve, is reassuring.

But so far his record shows we can't trust Obama's words alone. No action? No trust.

FULL TRANSCRIPT:

well, today I'm proud to issue a presidential memorandum that paves the way for long-overdue progress in our nation's pursuit of equality. Many of our government's hard-working, dedicated, and patriotic public servants have long been denied basic rights that their colleagues enjoy for one simple reason — the people that they love are of the same sex.Currently, for example, LGBT federal employees can't always use sick leave to care for their domestic partners or their partners' children. Their partners aren't covered under long-term care insurance. Partners of American Foreign Service officers abroad aren't treated the same way when it comes to the use of medical facilities or visitation rights in case of an emergency. These are just some of the wrongs that we intend to right today. In consultation with Secretary of State Clinton, as well as OPM Director John Berry, my administration has completed a long and thorough review to identify a number of areas where we can extend federal benefits to the same-sex partners of Foreign Service and executive branch government employees.I'm requesting that Secretary Clinton and Director Berry do so where possible under existing law — and that the heads of all executive departments and agencies conduct reviews to determine where they may do the same.Hundreds of Fortune 500 companies already offer such benefits not only because it's the right thing to do, but because they recognize that it helps them compete for and retain the best possible talent — and we need top talent serving their country right now more than ever. Now, under current law, we cannot provide same-sex couples with the full range of benefits enjoyed by heterosexual married couples. That's why I'm proud to announce my support for the Domestic Partners Benefits and Obligations Act, crucial legislation that will guarantee these rights for all federal employees.I want to thank Representative Tammy Baldwin, who is behind me somewhere — there she is, right there — for her tireless leadership on this bill and in the broader struggle for equality. I want to thank Senator Joe Lieberman — Joe is here — as well as Susan Collins for championing this bill in the Senate; and Representative Barney Frank for his leadership on this and so many other issues — in fact, this is his second trip to the White House today. (Laughter.)It's a day that marks a historic step towards the changes we seek, but I think we all have to acknowledge this is only one step. Among the steps we have not yet taken is to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act. I believe it's discriminatory, I think it interferes with states' rights, and we will work with Congress to overturn it.We've got more work to do to ensure that government treats all its citizens equally; to fight injustice and intolerance in all its forms; and to bring about that more perfect union. I'm committed to these efforts, and I pledge to work tirelessly on behalf of these issues in the months and years to come.Thank you very much everybody, and with that I am going to sign this executive order.

Conversations with God

Last evening I had the rare pleasure to chat with the almighty. You know him as God, but he prefers to call himself: “mr.deity.” I’m referring of course to Brian Keith Dalton, the man behind the hilarious and popular video series, mr.deity.

I am able to finally put to rest the argument of whether God is a mac user. I was able to confirm that mr.deity is indeed a major mac user. After all, how did you expect him to create the world in a mere seven days?

On another note, it turns out that mr.deity attended Cerritos College, the very same college where I work as a Learning Specialist, until he realized he didn’t need to attend college. After all, he is all knowing. You can check the series in my video gallery or you can go directly to his new site:

Conservative Media Freaked Out Over DHS Report On Right Wing Extremists

When a Department of Homeland Security report on right-wing extremism was released earlier this year, the conservative media responded with outrage and mockery. In light of Wednesday's attack at the Washington D.C. Holocaust Museum, Fox News' anchor Shep Smith pointed out that "they warned us for a reason." Media Matters has looked back at how those warnings were ignored.

"There are no Timothy McVeighs out there right now," declared James Dobson on Fox News in April. "They're making a big deal out of something that hasn't happened and may not happen."

Fox News contributor Andrea Tantaros dismissed the report's findings as a "made up threat."

Joe Scarborough reacted with both anger and indignation, expressing shock that the report was "targeting veterans returning from war" while also laughing hysterically when it was brought up: "This is a funny story this is a laughably -- they're nuts, Janet Napolitano has gone nuts -- this is funny."

The Frightening Exorcism of a Gay Demon

I have never participated in an exorcism, but I've seen them in movies. At the Manifested Glory Ministries in Bridgeport, Conn., where husband-and-wife team Patricia and Kelvin Mckinney (who can make you live longer!) work to expel the gay demon living inside this young man. Notes Manifested Glory on its YouTube page, "This man had a spirit in him. It can not stay it has to go. The Homosexual spirit is not of GOD!!!!!" I won't even get into whether this "religious" practice (which, evidently, involves physical abuse) works or not — but I’m nearly certain writhing around the ground will not impact your biological preference for other men.

Pat Robertson: Abusive Coaches And Guidance Counselors May Be Making People Gay

Parenting is tough. And for some parents, the discovery that their child is gay, can make it even tougher. It's a good time to pause and learn what your son or daughter is going through, to reach out to those who've been down the same path, and to remember, above all else, that those strong familial bonds of love and understanding are going to be the foundation that helps you and your child confront both fears and doubt.

Or, alternatively, you can seek out the advice of a doomsday-predicting, despot supporting, Scotland fearing, snake-oil selling, idiot religious fanatic!

Here's a video that documents some parents who have chosen the latter path, and who sought out the advice of 700 Club huckster Pat Robertson. Let's see what he had to say:

ROBERTSON: I am not at all persuaded that so-called homosexuals are homosexuals because of biological problems. They're may be a very few but there are so many that have been made homosexuals because of a coach or a guidance counselor or some other male figure who has abused them and they think that there's something wrong with their sexuality so you need to get deep into why he is what he is instead of just saying "he's a homosexual so how do I handle him and how do I be Christian?" Well, I think you ought to tell him "Listen, son. Here's what the Bible says about this and it's called an abomination before God so I've got to tell you the truth because I love you." That's what I think.
That's what he thinks! Also, there was another time when he thought that, "What we need is for somebody to place a small nuke at [The State Department]," which is not just an abomination, it is quite literally A BOMB. IN THIS NATION.

So, yes, this is definitely the guy you want guiding your kid's genitalia into an uncertain future.

When technology goes too far

Untitled-1

I’ve been meaning to say this for quite a while now, but somehow I always manage to do something more important instead: Twitter is for losers! There, I finally got it off my system, and NO, I didn’t twitter about it.

Twitter: Man, I just sat on the toilet and took a big dump!

People know how much I love technology and in fact, how much I embraced it long before it became cool to do so. However, there comes a time when we need to recognize if we’ve gone too far. After all, everything is cool in moderation. When it comes to technology and its way to alter communication, we have forgotten that its original intention was to improve our communication, not worsen it.

Twitter: Dude, the face of my partner as she reached an orgasm was amazing!

When it comes to social interaction, we have made tremendous leaps in the way of technology, but we are actually beginning to sabotage our original goal and risk becoming a society of complete isolation with “virtual communication and social interaction.” Take it from me, I’m a major introvert who has taken advantage of its alternative ways of communication.

Twitter: I’m wondering if my yeast infection has healed and can have sex right now with the cute guy I’m with!

However, nothing can substitute a good ol’ conversation face to face with your friends. Except that now, it is almost impossible for anyone to enjoy such interaction. Last night, I was looking forward to getting together with some old friends with whom I have not seen in at least 4 years. First stop, a friend’s place to meet his partner and doggies. From the moment I was introduced, all the way in the car and to the restaurant, I was competing with my friend’s partner blackberry and in the end the blackberry won. Thank god that the dogs did not multitask and gave me their undivided attention (they were adorable, btw). Next stop, meeting my other friend at the restaurant where in no time, I was competing with his cell phone as well. I finally managed to put on my best face of “how rude!” to make my point.

Twitter: Oh no! I didn’t get to the toilet in time and now I have to continue my chat with anal leakage!

The sad truth is that my friends are not alone in this faux pas. It is becoming the norm by today’s standards. Now comes twitter to make it even more impossible to communicate with the person in front of you because your “followers” in cyberspace should get first priority of what you are doing at that particular instant. Get a real life, loser!

Twitter: This is so funny! I’m chatting with Jose and ... WTF! (no signal!)

Killer of Abortion Doctor Asks For Your Prayers

b1656f17-839a-45f1-9cc3-d1a40ebe1f43

The 51-year-old Kansas City, Mo. man was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder for allegedly killing Tiller with a single gunshot as the doctor handed out programs Sunday while ushering at the Lutheran church he attended in Wichita. Roeder also is accused of assaulting two witnesses before leaving the church and driving away. He was arrested a few hours later.

When asked by the AP to discuss the Tiller shooting, Roeder refused to comment, saying he would talk about that later.

"I haven't been convicted of anything, and I am being treated as a criminal," he said after calling the AP. The telephone conversation lasted about three minutes.

Roeder said he is concerned about the media attention his family, particularly his elderly mother, was getting following his arrest.

"I appreciate your prayers," said Roeder, who has a preliminary court hearing scheduled for June 16. District Judge Warren Wilbert set Roeder's bond on Thursday at $5 million, reversing an earlier ruling to deny bond.

He thinks he deserves people praying for him? WTF? Oh that’s right, there are Christians out there who believe he was on a mission from God.

Those Gay Penguins? They're New Dads!

Gay parents make bad parents? Well sure, sometimes, but so do straight parents! That doesn't seem to be the case with our latest favorite gay couple, though. Meet Z and Vielpunkt, two beauties who are raising their first adopted child. Z and Vielpunkt live in Bremerhaven, northern Germany. And just happen to be Humboldt penguins.

penguinbaby-302x300

You might've heard about this pair back when zookeepers tried to "test" whether the couple were really gay, bringing a set of female penguins into their den, but gay rights activists got in a huff and the zoo changed its mind. Instead, they let them prosper as two gays, giving them a "rejected" egg after two heterosexual penguins abandoned it by pushing it out of their nest.
Now having kept that egg warm for 35 days, they're the proud parents of a happy and healthy baby chick, who's now about 1.5 months old.

penguinparents-221x300

And who says gay parents can't provide for their kids? "The two daddies feed their offspring with fish mash that they chew up and regurgitate into its ever-open beak," reports the Daily Mail.
Meanwhile, the zoo has four other gay penguins, which means that place could be home to new adopted kids (and a fantastic cheese spread) sometime soon.

Kentucky Pastor Invites People To Bring Guns To Church

ea478357-9573-4ce8-b0e9-b30e0bddabcc

A Kentucky pastor is inviting his flock to bring guns to church to celebrate the Fourth of July and the Second Amendment.

New Bethel Church is welcoming "responsible handgun owners" to wear their firearms inside the church June 27, a Saturday. An ad says there will be a handgun raffle, patriotic music and information on gun safety.

"We're just going to celebrate the upcoming theme of the birth of our nation," said pastor Ken Pagano. "And we're not ashamed to say that there was a strong belief in God and firearms _ without that this country wouldn't be here."

The guns must be unloaded and private security will check visitors at the door, Pagano said.

He said recent church shootings, including the killing Sunday of a late-term abortion provider in Kansas, which he condemned, highlight the need to promote safe gun ownership. The New Bethel Church event was planned months before Dr. George Tiller was shot to death in a Wichita church.

Kentucky allows residents to openly carry guns in public with some restrictions. Gun owners carrying concealed weapons must have state-issued permits and can't take them to schools, jails or bars, among other exceptions.

Pagano's Protestant church, which attracts up to 150 people to Sunday services, is a member of the Assemblies of God. The former Marine and handgun instructor said he expected some backlash, but has heard only a "little bit" of criticism of the gun event.

"A church is designated as a safe haven, it's a place of worship," said Phillips, who was shot by a church member's relative for an unknown reason and still has a bullet lodged in his spine. "It is unconscionable to me to think that a church would be a place that you would even want to bring a weapon."

Phillips spoke out against a bill before the Arkansas General Assembly that would have permitted the carrying of guns in that state's churches. The bill failed in February.

Pagano, 50, said some members of his church were concerned that President Obama's administration could restrict gun ownership, and they supported the plan for the event when Pagano asked their opinion.

Marian McClure Taylor, executive director of the Kentucky Council of Churches, an umbrella organization for 11 Christian denominations in Kentucky, said Christian churches are promoters of peace, but "most allow for arms to be taken up under certain conditions."

Taylor said Pagano assured her the event would focus on promoting responsible gun ownership and any proceeds would go to charity.

"Those two commitments are consistent with the high value the Assemblies of God churches place on human life," she said in an e-mail message.

He said the point was not to mix worship with guns, though he may reference some passages from the Bible.

"Firearms can be evil and they can be useful," he said. "We're just trying to promote responsible gun ownership and gun safety."

Pagano is encouraging church members to bring a canned good and a friend to the event. Because nothing says fellowship like some SPAM, a redneck and his guns.

Sotomayor Cartoon In The Oklahoman Comes Under Fire

Some women's groups are outraged over an editorial cartoon that ran in The Oklahoman newspaper on Wednesday - it depicts Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor strung up like a piñata with a sombrero-clad President Obama handing out bats to Republican members of Congress.

Jean Warner, the chair of the Oklahoma Women's Coalition, wrote:

She's served on the US Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit for 10 years, heard over 3,000 cases and written over 380 opinions (but she's of Puerto Rican descent ~~ ergo the piñata image - right? wink, wink).

Not funny; actually stupid and damaging. A picture speaks louder than words and that cartoon sends a message to women of all ages: "Back off. Know your place. Or we'll take a stick to you and teach you a lesson."

Daily Kos poster OKC law dork wrote:

"I'm appalled that [The Oklahoman] would publish a cartoon showing a federal judge who happens to be a minority strung up from a tree... There is a vigorous racist block of voters in Oklahoma who harbor racist feelings toward 'Mexicans' (usually meaning anyone of Hispanic origin) that I believe this cartoon is catering to."

The editor of the Oklahoman, which is considered to have a conservative editorial viewpoint, did not return calls for comment.

Judge for yourself. Here's the cartoon:

s-SOTOMAYOR-CARTOON-hugebw

By the way, Ms. Warner, while your explanation for the use of a piñata may be correct, let me correct you on the fact that ANYONE being Puerto Rican or of Puerto Rican descent being referenced by the use of a piñata is WAY OFF and it only highlights the glaring lack of cultural diversity knowledge by the vast majority of Americans.

O'Reilly Suddenly Distancing Himself From Past Tiller Rhetoric

s-OREILLY-large

On Monday, Bill O'Reilly boldly defended his vicious attacks on the late Dr. George Tiller. "No backpedaling here," he told viewers. "Everything we said about Tiller was true." (SUUUUUURE!)

Two days later, it seems O'Reilly is, in fact, backpedaling. On Tuesday night he claimed his previous references to George Tiller as "the baby killer" were merely standard reporting.

"I reported what groups were calling him. I reported accurately." The host then went on to 'report' the number of abortions Tiller had performed and estimated the doctor's income at a million dollars a year. (O'Reilly is paid over $10 million a year.)

Watch, via Media Matters:

In 2006, O'Reilly reported that "if I could get my hands on Tiller -- well, you know. Can't be vigilantes. Can't do that. It's just a figure of speech." He has also reported, "No question Dr. Tiller has blood on his hands." In all, O'Reilly has mentioned Tiller on 29 occasions since 2005, most recently in April of this year.

KRXQ Sacramento Radio Hosts Encourage Violence Against Transgender Children

It seems that the prevailing theme of this week is the prevalence of hate filled words in the news media.

Even by the flexible moral, ethical, and professional standards of American talk radio, the May 28th segment of KRXQ 98.5 FM Sacramento's Rob, Arnie, & Dawn in the Morning radio talk show makes for a sickening half-hour of ugliness and cruelty. For once, the focus was not LGBT adults, but minors. The hosts, Rob Williams and Arnie States, devoted the segment in question to a vicious diatribe against transgender children, some as young as five, focusing in particular on the case of one Omaha family raising a gender dysphoric child, and their decision to support her transition from male to female.

Williams and States took turns referring to gender dysphoric children as "idiots" and "freaks," who were just out "for attention" and had "a mental disorder that just needs to somehow be gotten out of them," either by verbal abuse on the part of the parents, or even shock therapy.

"Allowing transgenders to exist, pretty soon it becomes normal to fall in love with the animals," they said.

For his part, States bragged that if his own son were to ever dare put on a pair of high heels, States would beat his son with one of his own shoes. He urged parents whose own little boys expressed a desire to wear a dress to verbally abuse and degrade them as a viable response. "Because you know what? Boys don't wear high heel shoes. And in my house, they definitely don't wear high heels.

"I'm going to go, 'You know what? You're a little idiot! You little dumbass!'" States sneered, adding later, "I look forward to when [the transgender children] go out into society and society beats them down. And they wind up in therapy.”

Or dead.

In light of the well-publicized suicides this year of the two boys who took their own lives because of bullying and harassment for "acting gay" (which, in the argot of modern North American teenagers, often refers to acting in a way considered unmasculine by their peers) the stunning lack of moral sensibility on the part of States and Williams is breathtaking. But it also points to the increasingly degraded landscape of talk radio.

The causal link between Bill O'Reilly's obsessive baiting of abortion provider Dr. George Tiller on FOX and Tiller's murder on Sunday, May 31st as he was ushering in his Kansas City church, is currently being explored, an exploration particularly relevant in the case of Rob, Arnie, and Dawn in the Morning, and the potential violent fallout from their inexplicably rage-filled invective against not only transgender children, but even boys who err on the feminine side of standard adolescent behavior, behavior States and Williams consider unnatural because "men are hunters and women are gatherers."

I shudder to imagine the response of the late Carl Joseph Walker-Hoover's mother if she'd had the misfortune to hear the KRXQ broadcast.

"They were always saying [to Carl] 'You're gay, you must be gay, you act like a girl'," Sideaner L. Walker told the press in April, speaking of the dead son she had to cut down from the support beam he hung himself from after months of taunts from his peers---taunts that likely bore more than a passing resemblance to the invective used by States and Williams on their May 28th broadcast.

"I'm not open-minded once I look into sumpin'" one of the two men grunted at the beginning of the segment, their voices interchangeable. "I have every right to call you a freak and judge you on that. It makes me sick. 'Mommy, I'm a girl trapped in a boy's body,'" he simpered, mimicking an effeminate little boy. "I want to wear a dwess."

They berated co-host Dawn Rossi, who seemed genuinely horrified by the rising crescendo of ugliness towards the children and their parents from States and Williams.

"You're actually defending allowing people to become freaks?" they seethed. "A boy who wants to wear a dress is a freak. A nut." Comparing transgender children to "fat bastard kids on Maury," States and Williams urged advocates of transgender children to "stop hiding behind research and laws," whose authority they wholeheartedly reject. Braying with the certitude of the jubilantly ignorant, States and Williams revealed to listeners that "transgenders [sic] did not exist four decades ago," apparently unaware of the historical fact that transgender individuals have existed in every culture throughout recorded history, including in native American cultures where the "two spirited" were revered as teachers, healers, and shamans.

By no objective standard are dumbed-down, Wal-Mart versions of O'Reilly like States and Williams journalists. Nor are they really experts on anything other than plunging the overflowing toilets of their listeners' psyches and selling the sewage back to them, repackaged as "insight," "common sense" and "plain talk" from fake-macho blowhards hiding behind radio microphones.

One doesn't need a primer on transgender or transsexual history in order to appreciate the awesome brutality of the KRXQ shock-jocks' diatribe. All one needs is to know a child, any child. They're small, they're vulnerable, and their world is populated with gods whose divinity is derived solely from their adulthood and perceived authority.

States and Williams chose to use that authority to attack a segment of the childhood population who are more vulnerable than almost any other. Transgender children are at a point in their lives when they feel their own bodies are the enemy, and alien to them. Many of them go to bed praying that when they wake up their bodies and their inner gender will be aligned.

"If the kid ever gets to be eighteen," States snarled, "and says 'I still feel like a woman!' you say, 'Get out! Go be a freak! And understand, SON, that society will never accept you because we still have some moral judgment."

As disturbing as it has become to an increasingly enlightened segment of the mainstream American population to hear LGBT adults vilified and degraded in the media as the discussion over gay marriage and Don't Ask, Don't Tell reaches a boiling point, no one with even a passing acquaintanceship with decency could have been prepared for KRXQ's May 28th pageant of brutality towards transgender children.

Who are, after all, children, first and foremost. Trusting, innocent, and vulnerable, they ought to be beyond the reach of the violent, hate-mongering adult rhetoric that is taken for granted in American talk radio. One needs no particular sympathy for transgender people to understand the prodigious boundary transgression of promoting contempt and disgust towards children, anyone's children, on a radio show.

This should give serious pause to adults of every political, economic, and social background, whatever their stand on LGBT issues. It should be of particular concern to KRXQ's advertisers and their customers.

I can only imagine the perfect horror of having someone like States as a father. While it would wonderful to have these disgusting human beings fired from their show, I’m sure they would be hired in a second by Fox News.
